Ten Broeck Farm

Our Intern from Sweden

Lisa Andersson is a 19-year-old young lady who will be coming to Ten Broeck Farm as an intern. Lisa will arrive in June and be with us until mid-August. She and her parents and sister and brother live on an island called Tjorn on the Swedish west coast. Lisa says that it reminds her of the Maine coast, with “rocky islands and not so many trees.”

Lisa has visited the United States several times because her uncle and his family live in Connecticut and other relatives live in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

“I have had my horse Lissie since I was 13-years-old,” she says. “Lissie is a 10-year-old pony from the Netherlands and I have competed with her in dressage, show jumping and horse show exhibitions. She is a chestnut with a temper but she always tries to do her best and I like her a lot!” she says. Lisa adds that she also has a “crazy cat” to accompany her siblings’ dogs.

Lisa has had 13 years of riding experience, including classroom instruction. She has served as an instructor for children’s riding classes. Lisa arranged a show jumping competition with 200 participants. She placed sixth in the Swedish Championship for 7- year-old horses and competed in Sweden’s next highest division in both dressage and show jumping for ponies.

“We are thrilled to have Lisa joining us at Ten Broeck Farm,” said owner Orintha Silva. We know she will be a terrific addition to our everyday life on the farm. Most of all, we look forward to helping her advance in her dressage riding. It’s going to be a great summer,” Orintha concluded.
